In this episode of $30k questions, a podcast miniseries aimed to help you explore and implement money-making questions, I want to explore with you the reasons why we might wait on firing people, what we should do to get to that place and go over what we need to notice about ourselves throughout the process. It’s a difficult but necessary question and I ask you to think: why haven’t you fired them yet? 

Here, I ask the big questions and prompt some introspection: 

  • When should we ask ourselves this question? If someone on your team is not delivering on what everyone agreed on, why haven’t you ended that relationship? 
  • At this point, where should you place the focus? Yourself. Notice if thoughts come up about how they’ll respond, what they’ll think about you, and what they’ll say. Then, refocus and ask: why haven’t you fired them yet? 
  • Then, ask yourself: do I like the reason? Is it clear and concise? If not, keep in mind that kind is clear, and clear is kind. 
  • If the relationship isn’t working, the kindest thing to do is to take action. How should you take action? Clearly, decisively, and directly. In the end, that is kind.
