“Whatever you choose, decide that it’s going to work and decide that you’re going to work at making whatever framework or process you use work for you.”

As you guide yourself into new goal-setting methods, it’s time to find a trustworthy resource and guide to follow. This should be someone who you respect, who has a realistic method they stick to for concrete reasons that genuinely have benefitted them, and who is willing to change and evolve when things don’t work out as planned.
“The anatomy of a good goal is one that has a timeframe on it. It involves an evaluation period, it gives hints to what this person needs to learn next, and it’s about their growth and integrity.”
Taking a chance on a new framework
Here’s the biggest secret of all: There’s not a singular “perfect” framework for you to follow. Although it may seem like some methods are hailed as the saviors of goal achievement, the process of finding your ideal goal framework involves experimenting and taking risks with new ideas, all with a positive perspective.
“Truthfully, almost any framework for goal-setting works. Literally, any framework works. And we know that that is true because there are hundreds of ways to set goals, which means that someone has had success with those frameworks.”
